Growing up in Napa Valley, Bobby have never been far from the vine. He was fascinated with wine growing from an early age. Originally, he pursued his passion for wines as a Sommelier, and became familiar with the wines of the world. But after working several harvests on the central coast of California, He soon realized that he was much more fulfilled when surrounded by vines and barrels. Though it is not an easy decision to make, Bobby decided to go back to college for winemaking.
With a double major in chemistry and winemaking from Oregon State University, Bobby went back home to the Napa Valley and worked for three years under the tutelage of some of Napa’s most famed winemakers including Thomas River Brown. The apprenticeship help Bobby build up his solid winemaking expertise in most French varietals, among which his favorite grapes are Cabernet and Grenache. Not surprisingly, Bobby initiated his own winery and Chiron wines with his family investment soon after his internship.
Bobby approach winemaking as an art form with its roots in science. Influenced by the terroir, he balances my understanding of traditional and contemporary winemaking methods to produce an authentic expression of the site. With this philosophy, Bobby strives to produce wines with a sense of place and balanced tension that engage the mind and beg to be shared.
Bobby spends most of his time in the Napa Valley, with his family and two dogs. In the pursuit of his own balance and happiness, he is often far astray from the Napa Valley exploring the wilderness in search for remote places to fly-fish, backpack, and camp under the stars.
